Long Beach Heritage has acknowledged our efforts and awarded us a 2012 Restoration and Preservation Award. How cool is that? Thanks Rochelle Kramer of Ranchostyle for referring us to them!
I had to supply them with exterior shots... which made me realize I hadn't really properly photographed the completed exterior. So, here are some shots from today:

Congratulations on this well deserved award. The documentation of your restoration process has been a great how-to guide that I have shared with many clients and neighbors. Thank you for honoring the original architecture of your Rancho home with sensitive design choices. Bravo!
love it!
Very cool -- congrats!!
I just found your site. I became fascinated with Cliff May homes after touring one for sale in Tustin. I thought the seller did a good job with the renovations, but after reading your story and seeing the before and after pictures, it made me wish I could have purchased in the "original" condition and followed your lead. Your home is gorgeous. And me? I'm still on the prowl for that perfect mid-century modern... Thank you for the inspiration.
Who did your roofing and would you recommend them? How's it holding up and are you still happy going back to the rock roof? I'm in a similar situation you were years ago with decaying shingles now but the house originally had a rock roof. I like the look but worried about practicality.
Wow! Just read your blog from start to finish and I'm
so impressed! I've been a Cliff May lover for years now, and you have sure restored that home to its original glory. Good for you and I'm sure your neighbors love you for it! Congrats!
Thanks Jessica!
Erin, Long Beach Roofing did our roof. I had to fix a couple points in the flashing (where it bends around corners) that weren't as water-tight as they should have been. Overall, we are happy with the job they did.
So far so good with the choice of rock though. It stays very cool and we really like the look.
thanks for the posts. good stuff.
Congrats!! Well deserved!!
